why would you blame Bush for Texas ills? In order to make Junior look like Presidential timber the oilmen backers had to engineer a series of initiatives which were all slogan. That destroyed the once thriving economy and educational system of Texas a few years earlier than Junior destroyed the nation's future. The payback was of course, substantial. The piggybank for favors rendered was the UTIMCO endowment for the University of Texas which lost billions at a time when the Clinton economy was strong. Those billions mostly ended up with the Carlyle group, two Bush contributers, Bruce Schnitzer and Tom Hicks, and Harken energy (That little oil company where Junior lost so much money but managed to trade his shares at a huge profit to buy the Texas Rangers). The University of Texas has been forced to raise tuition and default on prepaid tuition because of the shortfall. news.mysanantonio.com chron.com As always, it is Junior's puppermasters who do the real damage.
