"The Goal" is unattainable in my lifetime and any number of lifetimes to follow, but you, with at least a dim awareness of the arrow of time, should also be aware of the teleological nature of that arrow of time.

But the goal involves lots of fun along the way. As they say, getting there is half the fun.

Animals and primitive people know only stasis and their animal needs. Even as the cosmos swirled around them and teleological processes wrapped DNA around and around in infinite array of increasing complexity, from their narrow perspective they saw only the prey in front of them and the predator behind. If they got respite from either, they would fight over girls.

I have heard there were ancient names you mentioned. They have never been of much interest to me. It is indeed winter here, but whether it is Faustian or not, I can't say, not having a clue what Faustian winter or summer are like. At school, they tried to tell me ancient English history was something I should learn, with one Hungarian thug threatening to beat me with a stick if I didn't get in the top 10 of his history class. I learned something valuable from him = the dumb authoritarian thugs are to be avoided and preferably dead. Unfortunately, there are plenty of them.
