They don't own congress, and to the extent that they "rent it", its more congresses fault for putting itself on the market. The politicians decide to pass out favors, no one forces them to do so.

But note that I say "more congresses fault", not "all congresses fault", I blame the rent seekers as well just not as much as the rent givers.

And you maintain we need to regulate this travesty even less?

Much of the travesty comes from regulations. If government is going to get so involved in the economy, companies are going to try to influence it.

As for trying to regulate the process your talking about, I'd be against more restrictions on campaign finance and any strong attempts to limit lobbying, but I might not object to some anti "revolving door" legislation.
