yes you are right again...
The IA-64 architecture [I think that's what it's called] is as big a break that the 386 was, maybe bigger.
64-Bit processing, with reverse compatibility, in software I think for the x86 architecture right ?
A Huge cash cow, eagerly awaited by all the major players, and with the longest list of partners in the industry.
Leveraging HP's knowledge in the PA-RISC area was a gutsy, intelligent move by Intel.I was deeply impressed.
Let AMD/NSN-Cyrix fight it out, at major losses I might add, in the no profit home market. Servers and MicroFrames [Massively Parallel 8x, 10x, 20x Merced Superservers is where the money will be...]
I just hope Intel can continue to make a good, increasing profit with the pressures it has had over the last 6 months with the "sub-1000" PC.
Else my intel stock will go nowhere until MERCED starts shipping, and only when for 6 months or so will we see any real profits.
Thank god Intel has Slot 1, and Slot 2 and that AMD/Cyrix must reverse engineer and try to clone it..
Let me know what you think
