Slower, Paul. Intel's chip is slower.

I heard that PIII sped up the Internet. My understanding from Intel's marketing is that the Internet detects a PIII, and works extra hard to make the PIII happy.

In turn, the PIII gets highly stimulated by the Internet and can't wait to exchange CPUID information. Without proper protection, this practice can be dangerous however.

The problem for PIII is that after a few months, the Internet may lose it's attraction and feel the need to seek after an even bigger stud, like K7.
