Wind River's Departing CEO Shied From 5,6 Yr Commitment

SAN FRANCISCO -- Wind River Systems Inc. (WIND) Chief Executive Ronald Abelmann said an unwillingness to make an additional five- to six-year commitment to the company led to his decision to resign.

Abelmann, 61, said he had debated his decision for the past six months. ...

Speaking at the Hambrecht & Quist technology conference, Abelmann said he didn't anticipate the transition from one CEO to the another would disrupt Wind River's business.

"I don't think you will see a hiccup," he told investors at the conference.

Wind River plans to get its search underway for a new CEO with urgency. The company needs to bring on a new CEO with a special expertise in Internet and telecom technologies, he said....
