GS,
The founders of AVNT worked at Cadence. They stole trade secrets and founded their company on Cadence designs. Their defense in court was predicated on the harm it would do to the business community and their employees if the court puts them out of business rather than a denial of the theft. They also used as a defence that the "code" they stole is out of date and their new systems are better than the Cadence design. MIT took apart their new system and discovered thousands of lines of code from the Cadence code that was stolen even to the extent that a copyright REM to Cadence was still in the software. Cadence stands ready to fulfill the obligations of AVNT so harm to the community that put it's trust in AVNT is not a consideration. There is no protection of shareholders because of "Buyer beware"
Cadence Design will not give up the fight until AVNT is out of business and the top employees have suffered criminal penalties.
