First, this commentary is from a rightwing blogger. They are notorious for getting some or all of it wrong. Nonetheless, I will go through one of the bolded sections and show you why this guy shouldn't be allowed to blog:
In 2002, Reid worked on the power corridor. He inserted obscure provisions into a land management bill that relocated the power corridor,
Huh? What are these murky "obscure provisions"? Sounds dirty.....how much do you want to bet that its much to do about nothing.
freeing Whittemore to build on the 10,500 acres that Congress had previously held -- which means that someone else now had to lose property value for Whittemore's benefit, and for no cost whatsoever.
Excuse me. What does it mean "lose property value"? Is he saying the property owner will lose money selling to Whittemore? It makes no sense. And what's this "no cost whatsoever". Is he suggesting Whittemore will get the land for free? If so, he is full of it. A GOP senator would have been screaming bloody murder over the issue, trying to nail Reid to the wall.
That bald move caused raised eyebrows at the BLM and the Senate's Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and Reid backed away -- for the moment.
The word is bold, not bald. Bald is when you are losing your hair.
Less than two years later, Reid tried again to give Whittemore the land for a song ($160,000), but Congress balked again.
How could Reid do that? There are federal procedures that must be followed. They would have brought Reid up on charges.
He finally settled for freeing the land for development and allowing Whittemore to buy it at a fair market rate, and forcing the government to relocate the power corridor.
Ahhh.......here it is in a nutshell......fair market value........that's the only way Whittemore could have gotten the property. There are certain federal procedures that must be followed that clearly the blogger knows nothing about. If Reid tried to 'influence' the price, he would have been brought up on charges like your boy Cunningham.
In 2005, Reid and fellow Nevada Senator John Ensign conducted a series of interventions with the EPA to eliminate the final obstacle -- the environmental impact on the fragile ecosystem in Coyote Springs Valley. When the agency blocked Whittemore's efforts, Reid and Ensign held several meetings with EPA officials to pressure them into submission. Whittemore used another Reid son, Lief, to lobby his father's office for assistance. In the end, the pressure paid off, as the EPA backed down from its opposition after winning a few concessions on the development plan.
Such BS.........everyone knows that under Bush the EPA has been castrated. A developer could be talking about finishing off the last of the bald eagles and/or the buffalos and the EPA would give its overnite approval attached to an Uzi in order to kill the animals off faster.
Why do you read this crap? Its mostly innuendo and lies. These bloggers of a particular ilk write sewers of diarrheal words strung together in order to defame.
Money talks. And Harry Reid walks. If you wondered why the Democrats have abandoned the corruption theme for these midterm elections, now you know.
Excuse me.....that's all these bloggers talk about when they bring up the Dems. How the Dems are using the corruption theme to their disadvantage. If they think Reid is a crook, that's not causing the Dems to back off. |
