I believe that the average consumer wants the simplest and least expensive way to access the Internet (period). Something on the order of a telephone. --- With broadband will come just that. People won't need Office to do 'word processing'. They won't need Quicken to do the family finances. It'll be done over the web. That is after all what .NET is all about. --- But, it's not the 'consumer' where the money is made for 'PC' vendors. It's the enterprise. There, buying decisions aren't based on notions like 'richer computing experience'. They're made on economics and worker productivity. --- We'll see how the 'PC' (now, 'rich client') stacks up against alternative network clients and devices in the coming couple of years. -JCJ
