Bill - I read your post (I was directed there because SI highlighted it in their "post of the day" category). I am not sure what your point is. I HAVE had the operating system of my cell phone upgraded. I use a CDMA-powered Sprint PCS cell phone. There have been posts on the SI Qualcomm thread discussing how continuous improvements in Sprint PCS's "network architecture" (my choice of words) allow for the possibility of cell phone OS upgrades (which are free, but you do have to go into a Sprint PCS store and have them "do it"). Your statement "the PC is a disposable commodity" -- what do you mean ? I tend to think of a PC sort of like a TV set -- I will never spend a lot of money on it; I figure I will at some point pass on my TV to a local school or church or whatever; and ... I do not really feel any compelling need to "upgrade" each time a new and better model is available. Was this your point, or the exact opposite of your point ? (This message is being composed on a 233 MHz processor computer. I expect to use it for several more years). Jon.
