The exercise of an option is not a taxable event. The original cost goes into your basis.

Re: Brazil depends on whether it the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning. In any case, a friend of mine that was down big in a CAT short is definitely a happy camper.

FWIW If you want to play AOL, look at the discount in the NSCP shares.
