Bud:

I thought eBay struck a nice compromise over the Reserve auction change.

If the sellers are really that upset, they should band together and create their own site, issue stock, etc. Maybe they could make another site successful. But it would take a lot of time, and in the end analysis, they will want/need their continual cash flow through eBay.

I do agree that eBay has largely treated sellers with a certain disdain - like Red Hat, they should have made IPO shares available to the people who helped them get there in the first place.

But, other than telling people they could sign up with eTrade and maybe get a few shares, that is all eBay tried to do.

I still think eBay is going to be OK.

The auction count problem is not new -- it has been around for quite a few months.

I sense eBay is at a point of inflection with regard to growth -- will be interesting to see how it plays out.
