Cable Modems are taking off. I was in the Seattle, Tacoma area and service was ramping up out there. I'm back on the East Coast now and the local cable company will hook me up on 5 Jan. I'll be surfing in excess of 500 kbps. I can not wait. (A COM21 modem)

One of the Vice Presidents at Legg-Mason Wood Walker had some nice comments on BRCM on a local radio talk program. Basically, he says the stock is risky, people must be prepared for volatility but everything is in place for the company and its current valuation is in line. He also considered it a better play than many of the other Internet stocks that people are running into.

My basic take is that BRCM is kind of running under radar cover at the moment. In '99-'00 as the new modems take off the story will be out.
