AK, I don't know about Lidak or Katz having a less-than-pristine past. If the there was a previous incarnation of the company that failed that is not all that unusual or sinister. Start ups have a high incidence of failure. We have to remember that even of this stage we are essentially involved in venture capital. We know that the folks at Lidak are not world beating businessmen, we have seen evidence of that. What we are hoping is that they are good scientists. Once the product is approved we will get the businessmen to sell it. I was layed off from Citibank 7 years ago and am now a principle in a successful trading firm so I am a big believer in past results not being a predictor of future results ;-)

The rumour about the stock being hyped by a shady promoter are more significant. The editor of BI Research is not your man however. I have read his news letter for a number of years and have found him very useful and I like his stuff. It is the only newsletter I always renew. I don't however follow all his recommendations and believe he is mistaken to get out of the stock now. I have heard stories of a pr person employed by the company that went way over the top and really damaged the firms credibility. They got rid of him a while ago and I have been told that one of the reasons the firm is so restrained in it's statements is because they are still sensitive over his activities. There was also a very distasteful episode with Dan Dorfman repeatedly trashing the stock on CNBC. I also use to have a young man working for me who had earlier worked for one of the brokerage firms involved in the IPO and he told me about some of the shennanigans the broker was involved with. This is however typical broker hype and not something the firm itself was complicit with. FWIW the other thing he mentioned was that they got some samples of Lidakol and the one thing he always said was that the stuff REALLY worked.
