Stan/Snasraway/Hermes, I just answered my own question in my response to voop. Hermes was the Messenger of the Gods, and Apollo was the Sun God, but as minor duties, Apollo was the guardian of archery, prophecy, medicine, poetry, and music.
I hereby decommission you as Sir Hermes, and recommission you as Sir Apollo.

btw, Merlin, if you don't like Greek mythology, we'll switch to the Norse Gods. You'd like that, since the guardian of Magic was Odin, and he had a lot of other neat aspects:
He is the Supreme God and oldest of all in Norse tales. God of wisdom, poetry, magic, and
war. He belonges to the Aesir race of Gods. A story about his acquiring wisdom is that he
sacrificed an eye for the privilege of drinking from Mimir, the fountain of wisdom. He has
two black ravens, Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory), who fly forth each day to gather
the news of the world to bring back to Odin. His greatest treasures are Sleipner (an
eight-legged horse), Gunger (a spear), and Draupner (a ring). |
