The USA is certainly a target rich environment. John Stossel does a little bit of that from the right. Not sure this stuff does any more than make citizens more cynical than they already are. Doesn't seem to have any effect on the alleged targets.

Yes, Stossel is a muckraker from the right. Kind of like Michael Moore, except that he doesn't exploit it in the same way, no movies and major books from John Stossel. Although it might not be apparent always, this type of muckraking does have an effect and is an important part of society. People have to be aware of a problem, before any solutions can be proposed. Moore, Stossel and other muckrakers shine lights on problems. The muckraking brings problems to light, and eventually with enough political pressure and agitation, things eventually change.

From the right, pressure from grassroots has forced changes like the right of a victim to speak against the accussed before sentancing, and school vouchers. From the left, pressure from grassroots has caused major improvments in auto safety and improvements in our environment. Sometimes the changes don't seem so apparent, but look at what America looked like in say the early 1960s. It's a much different landscape today because of grassroots efforts to change our system.
