If I have any claim that I was still negotiating, it is terminated by signing the contract. Most people will rely on the written contract, not a prior expression of intent, to confirm assent. Also, there is a difference between an agreement in principle and a contract, when crucial issues have yet to be resolved. Thus, your example of leaving an issue hanging is mistaken. Strike three?.......
