ASM Comment correction-

I previously stated>>>

+ Verizon had the new Treo700 (MSFT based) on display and stated –
.......it works like a small PC,
.......can access all internet sites
.......can set up “favorite places” book marks
.......can be used as a modem with USB connection to the laptop- (all you can eat) for $15/month with voice plan saving the added cost of a PC aircard (and $60/month aircard access).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yesterday I went to the Verizon store to get another look and possibly buy the Treo700 and was disappointed to find-

1. The Treo700 could not be demonstrated as I was told someone had disconnected the cord and the battery had been drained.

2. The cost for the data plan was not $15/month for unlimited usage, but $44.95, a big difference!!!

3. The phone could NOT be used as a modem with USB cord connected to a laptop. They had other PDA type handsets that could do that, but not the Treo700 at present. Those devices with the $44.95 data plan plus an additional $15/ month ($60) would enable the device to serve as the laptop modem, but at $60/month is the same pricing as for air card connectivity.

I also went to a Sprint store where the Treo650 was demonstrated and was very impressed with the clarity of the screen. I was told that-

1. the Treo650 was EV-DO capable, but don’t believe that to be the case. The Sprint rep at the ASM stated the Treo650 was 1X, and they would soon have a Treo700 qualified.

2. The Treo650 could access all internet sites and one could easily set-up “favorite places” bookmarks.

3. the unlimited data pricing plan was an additional $15/month with the voice plan and that connection time on the internet did not count against the voice plan minutes.

4. she did not know if one could use the Treo650 as a modem for the laptop

5. she used Verizon for her personal use.

Questions-

Does anyone have a Treo700 on Verizon, and if so-
+ what are they paying for the service
+ can they use it as a modem to their laptop
+ can they access virtually all internet sites such as SI and Yahoo
+ can the “easily” set-up “favorite places” book marks
+ are they generally satisfied

TIA- Jim
