Okay, hows this one?
Having trouble with excessive "booger buildup"?
Chinese scientists have discovered in a remote village a new species of cockroach, newly named nosedust chewicus (booger eater). What they found was that when people in the village were asleep, the little cockroaches would enter the nostrils and feed on the nose dirt, cleaning out the area. They have sent a 2nd shipment to the United States to be studied; apparantly the container of the first one was damaged somewhere en route in California*, and the cockroaches escaped.
*it seems that there has been an unusually high increase in the sales of swimmers nose clips in the Beverly Hills area.

If it's a "go", maybe someone with better writing skills can dress it up, flesh it out and make it more believeable.
