GDP is not an accurate gauge of anything. It includes debt spending as a positive, along with using up natural resources such as cutting down forests and burning up oil reserves.

Unemployment figures are also misleading. Millions and millions have given up seeking full-time employment, living off debt, self-employed or under-employed with fewer health benefits and less job security. Millions of our best jobs have gone overseas under Bush.
