This country has changed considerably from it's inception and now is much different than our founding fathers intended. That is true. Whether it is a good or bad thing is a wonderful subject for an after dinner conversation. I still believe in the basic principles of our founding. But I also have to admit that when you have more than twice as many people living in one city (New York, pop around 8 million) that lived in the entire nation when the country was founded (1790 census showed 3.9 million total population for the entire country), when you probably have more GDP generated in a single county in Iowa than was generated in the entire nation on 1775, etc., then things have to change, including some basic principles and assumptions of society and government.
