Besides Umax's super CHRP's performance, IBM has made technology
break through on producing chips using copper, which based on CNBC's
report, the technology will increase chip processing speed by 40%,
while reduce 30% of current costs. Definitively, IBM will apply such
technology on its own PowerPC chips. The products of using such
technology will start early of next year. CNBC also reports that
Intel will have similar technology around 2003. I think IBM supplied
PowerPC chips with a worth of 500 million dollars in '96 to Apple, if
the prices on PowerPC chips can be reduced up to 30%, which will
strengthen Apple's position on aspects of performance/price to compete
with WinTel, Sun Micro, HP-UX etc.

IMHO
