Charles Gryba:

1. Price/Performance is irrelevant when Intel sells at cost.

Why? If AMD offers better price/performing products?

2. Rumor goes that OEMs have been getting the P4's at $100
You are not saying that making a P4 costs Intel more than $100 are you?

Depends upon assumptions around P4 cost writeoffs...If P4 flops, and school remains out on this one, I suspect that $1000 per P4 will not cover off costs...In q2, INTC planned to sell 4 million p4's and rumour has it that they sold 1.6 million P4's...Do you suppose then that INTC's q2 accounting reflected fixed cost P4 estimates associated withthe anaemic 1.6 million or the planned 4 million...If the planned 4 million then P4 costs were understated by at least 50%...Alarm bells are sounding at INTC, I'd guess!
