I don't remember if we had this conversation before. I think I told you about my grandmother's invention to keep bananas from getting overripe. I may have mentioned her other invention. We really aren't dishwasher people, although I've succumbed recently, but she never had a dishwasher. She would put dirty dishes to soak in hot water, then drain and rinse, but rather than stick her hand into the sink to pull the plug, she would soak the dishes in a plastic dishpan, and she made a hole in the bottom of the pan and put a plastic sink stopper into the hole, with a chain so she could pull the sink and drain the plastic tub. I can't imagine why anyone would actually do this, but she was very proud of herself.

I have no idea why I keep talking about my grandmother.
