As far as actual "layer-3" voice switching goes (as opposed to a simple point to point layer-2 tunnel through data network cloud) I am only aware of the Voice Networking feature on Nortel's Passport product. There are probably others. From their web site it says it supports "QSIG - ECMA on E1/DS1 NIS (North American ISDN); CAS (DTMF inband signalling and TTC-2M)" It's described as turning your data network into a virtual tandem PBX. check out nortel.com DALLAS -- Nortel (Northern Telecom) today announced the general availability of voice networking on its Magellan Passport asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch. Voice networking enables the Magellan Passport switch to interpret private branch exchange (PBX) signaling protocols to route individual calls directly, instead of routing the call through a tandem PBX. This capability was recognized by Data Communications Magazine with a Hot Products award in January 1997.
