shahn,

Rhapsody: The real question is not 'will the masses use it' because they will not, just as the masses don't use NT.

The question is: will corporations us it in client/server systems and will the high end graphics market adopt it (ie. the folks using SGI/Wavefront and NT/Softimage). Like me. I have an 8500/150 604chip with 114 megs of ram. I do my intense calculations at night. If I make a mistake...I reset and do it the next night. It can take 8hrs. to render one image if it requires refraction (glass and water etc.) calculations. Movie have millions of such images. Guys like me don't want to work for Sony or Pixar. I want to be able to make my own movies. A 500 mgz chip with a backside cache, 100 mgz buss and 512 mgz of ram would be a...a start.

Corporations are concerned with reliability, and ability to search massive databases.

If it works well in a client/server system and has significant improvement in price/performance rendering and database search capabilities...it probably will be adopted.

If it is adopted in these higher end markets, then the masses will have faith and exposure and will then follow.
