Apple: Still not touching it and won't until after earnings at the earliest. I love "dead money" situations, especially when they pay nearly 3% while the masses have moved on from the issue. Timing a trade into them, hopefully into a disappointing earnings release, at a time before they announce their next consumer level technology play could be a huge win.
If you've followed me for any time you know that I look for "secondary fire" issues. Those are issues that were on fire followed by a period of distribution where the stock price falls precipitously, stagnates, the masses move on and its yesterday's news. For these issues that are headlining stocks, there is nearly always a second fire that occurs, reignites the share price and provides a fantastic profit opportunity. This doesn't ensure that the momentum will hold, as it is often met at the top selling from those remaining holders, but opportunity abounds.
Whether GOOG, AAPL, GMCR, ISRG, CMG, SODA, etc. etc. Yesterday's high fliers that fall out of favor, nearly always rebound at some point. My full belief is that Apple will as well .... and sooner rather than later.
For the upcoming EPS release, I'm watching R&D spending as much as anything. |
