"Exactly... and today, the government doesn't fear the people, the government treats us like we're stupid..."

That was why many of our founders (Jefferson included) expected that America would have a revolution every generation or so.

(The main difference though, was that they hoped that our Constitution would prove amendable enough, and our leaders easy enough to turn out, that these recurring 'revolutions' could be institutionalized in the American system of governance.. and we would not have to shed blood in the streets to effect needed changes, but could amend our form of government as needed.)
