Soon HotMail will surpass AOL in terms of number of users. Does that mean AOL will not be the "#1 online service" anymore? How will that affect the way advertisers direct their money? Will it cost AOL any future deals?

I remember some talk a few weeks ago about AOL wanting to sell ads in the "send/read email" area of the service. To AOL users on this thread, is that already taking place? If not, was the idea shelved because the users objected or because the adspace could not be sold?
