USA national security: What's coming next?

Despite the security measures taken during the traditional Boston Marathon in the U.S., a double attack took place. Pravda.Ru are asked first deputy chairman of the Duma Committee for International Affairs, Vyacheslav Nikonov, to comment on the incident.
"This is the first terrorist attack in the United States after the beginning of the war on terror, after the September 11, 2001. All screws had been tightened back then, both in the U.S. and in other countries. Guantanamo prison appeared, secret CIA prisons appeared around the world. Many criticized the Patriot Act, which contained the program of control measures as a highly undemocratic instrument. So I do not think Obama will continue to tighten the screes even further - that's the limit.
"As for those who can stand behind it, judging by the fact that the only suspect is said to be a native of Saudi Arabia, most likely, one has to look for the roots in Islamic terrorist organizations. Noteworthy, 16 of 19 attackers, who committed the 9/11 attacks, were Saudi nationals.
"Clearly, the Islamist underground has been active in the United States, but the United States is the most important strategic ally in Saudi Arabia. Together with them, the Americans conduct operations against the Assad regime in Syria or against Gaddafi in Libya. So when you start to play the game of freedom fighters and foreign terrorists, the situation that may eventually occur can come as a big surprise. But in general, this is a great tragedy, and I present my condolences to the American people. |
