Dear Nigel

One can prove anything with polls.

In the Reagan elections, party identification was still overwhelmingly Democrat.

When election day came, Reagan won with a super majority of popular vote in spite of the polls showing party identification high with Democrat Party.

There are still some states in the USA where people will claim to identify with the Democrat Party to keep a government job at any level. When they go to the polling place the decision is theirs as we still have privacy in voting.

This is particulaly true of Federal Government workers----they rarely vote in primaries------they do vote in General Elections.

If these Federal Government Employees, not just inside the beltway in Washington, D.C. but in all States see Obama as a threat they will vote for McCain and Palin.
