Re: Chomksky - a friend of mine told me how when he was about 8 years old, his family and another family from academia had Chomsky over for dinner.

Even at 8 years old, it was apparent to my friend that Chomsky was both brilliant and a total nutcase - like an out of control Dr Spock or Linus Pauling, a self-appointed guru on anything and everything, but unlike someone like Richard Feynman completely lacking in modesty outside his area of competence.

Mix that in with a far leftwing political ideology and you get the picture :-)

I'm still patiently waiting on his prediction of "millions of Afghans" to be killed by our unseating the Taliban.....
