The only likeable GOP candidates are the ones who are anti-Bush. That is proven by the polls these days. The more McCain and Guliani move toward Bush the less popular they become. None of the Bushie rightwingers are liked outside the Bush base unless you count Rice who will never qualify as a nominee and will not run.

The most popular US politician remains Bill Clinton. He's way up there around 65%. That's about what Kerry would have gotten if McCain had done the right thing and accepted his offer to run as his VP. They'd have beaten Bush in a landslide. Besides Hillary, who is 50-50, and Edwards who is popular, and Gore who could probably beat any Republican, the public doesn't know any other Dems very well. Mark Warner is the type who might become very popular, even amongst Republicans.

Kerry's numbers are meaningless now. Democrats aren't ready to accept him again yet, blaming him for the "loss". But that could change greatly in the next few years. Right now Gore is the favorite. But he's not running - yet.
