<If CA took over Novell and Centura, it would be well positioned to expand its
reach deep into the C/S and Internet/intranet markets. Novell still owns the
lion's share of the NOS segment. Centura and its award winning SQL product
line plus its new Java development tool are well positioned to take advantage
of the rapidly growing demand for Internet/intranet development tools. What
a combination this makes for Computer Associates!>

Very interesting and certainly within the realm of possibility. This scenario, and 2 or 3 others (involving totally different companies) put forth lately, really make me think that the reason for the recent "poison pill" filing is not that the board is worried about one lowball bid for the company, which they could fight off.

They are worried about what I dream about, a bidding war frenzy that may start after one suitor publicly announces interest. I'm not specifically looking for a buyout, but the bidding war would focus tremendous attention on the company and their technology, what their marketing group hasn't been able to do to this point. No matter what happened, we would benefit. I think right now there is a VERY high stakes poker game being played behind the scenes with a few big players watching to see who moves first.

There is no other NDS out there (that works), soon someone is going to realize if they jump on this and keep a leadership position, they could be the "Microsoft" of the enterprise network/telecom infrastructure. What would be the growth prospects in that area ?
