Some cops enjoy their job too much Police work and other law enforcement positions often attract crypto fascists of the worst sort. I worked with a guy stocking shelves when I was in college that was a bail bondsman (read: bounty hunter) in his spare day hours. Shaved head, bulldog of a man. There was an old man in the grocery store one night that was obviously drunk, but not hurting anyone, and this guy (who had no authority other than a license to go nab people jumping bond) went and gave him the third degree making a "citizen's arrest." I just thought to myself that in the 1930's, that guy would have been wearing a brown shirt and jack boots. You meet people like that all day long. If things ever get too bad, you bet they'll try to get their boot on our necks and salute whatever thug has the biggest gun.
