Shortages of all kinds of computer components and heavy demand for notebook computers have combined to hold up prices of computer products, Dell said.

``The death of the PC is hugely exaggerated,'' he said. ''The demand for PCs and PC servers and notebooks is very, very healthy, and in a tight component market
the average selling prices are drifting steadily, or even in a slightly upward direction.''
