I cast one vote for Dirk as Hall Monitor. "Free exchange of thoughts" is nice, I'll agree, but SI is set up in such a way that all that free exchange can take place on separate lists, where readers with interest in specific topics can tune in if they choose.

One solution to this current off topicality would simply be to place the standard "OFF TOPIC" line before any posts dealing with the battle between AMD and Intel. Another would be to figure out some connection between that battle and Apple Computer so that the rest of us can determine how it might impact Apple's stock price.

Something you might find interesting to look at is a small blurb on Adobe Systems that appeared in the WSJ a couple days ago (after ADBE came out and CRUSHED analyst estimates for the current quarter). For better or for worse, Adobe is an interesting indicator of the health of Apple, and the former just saw a rise in sales to the Mac platform over the last quarter. Unfortunately, this is probably damaging for Adobe at this point rather than good for Apple.

Good luck to all today.
