Whoever did the "short" call on intl telephone stocks was right on:
__________
13:39 ET Telebras (TBR) 60 5/16 -4 11/16: Mutual funds/hedge funds that were making bets on the successful privatization of the Brazilian telecommunications industry have been slaughtered, as many placed big bets on TBR believing it to be lay up. The decline has nothing to do with the privatization plan-- that went better than expected. The problem is that investors are fleeing Brazil and other Latin American markets amid fears that several countries on the verge of devaluing their currencies (actually, Columbia made the move earlier this week). Today, TBR taking another flogging after Standard & Poor's lowered rating on stock from "accumulate" to "avoid." In the five weeks since TBR was auctioned off, the stock has lost more than half its value. .

Still a short?
