Someone who knows David Chase asked me about that only yesterday.

Seems from the news over the years, in particular an article in Forbes a few years back, the local mobs do have their fingers in some penny stock scams on Wall Street. Funny the way Chase weaves in real life stuff and it comes out not only funny but often eerily believable.

I was at a firm for a short while where they wanted you to push the house stocks. No one ever beat me up, but last I heard the head of that firm was under indictment. This fellow was a student of Robert Brennan, First Jersey Securities notoriety.

The show is a hoot, though. They are writing a few characters out, I'm told. The mother for example, who I understand has cancer in real life.

I was out in San Francisco last summer with a few SI cast members. They told me that there are pubs in the city there where people congregate and watch the Sopranos every week. Strange draw, that show.
