People of the world are sick of bullying megalomaniacs stomping around killing anyone who gets in their way. Saddam is now caged. Osama is hiding in some place. Now that he is getting older, he wisely says he will use his eminence to influence people for the good. He should get a knighthood, not punishment. I'm sure Jiang's and his wife's captors were very polite to him and realized the problem is with Jiang the power-crazed and not with their prisoner. They would have been embarrassed at the idiocy of what they were instructed to do. Imagine being the person ordered to put the screws on Dr Jiang. How embarrassing. Then again, maybe there are enough people in China like you to be found who will do stupid stuff like that, especially if they are ordered to. There are lots of low-life authoritarians around who leap at any chance to put the boot into somebody for the fun of it and to give themselves a sense of power and purpose.
Please write a confession that you have had wrong thoughts and that you are now thinking correctly. Then we can foregive you your transgressions and resume normal diplomatic relations. You have obviously got faulty ideas from somewhere. That's not your fault. We all get silly thoughts from time to time. Correcting those false ideas is the issue so that happy Confucian harmony can reign again.
Hu Jintao seems a nice chap. Zemin should be given a nice dacha in the countryside and Hu left to run things. He must be frustrated having to contend with a maniac in charge of the military and playing God.
