Arun, re verbal IQs. I wondered how they did that too, especially for Burkina Faso or whichever was the lowest of all, with few people. But a lot of people study intelligence and do tests of people, in India too! So I dare say the data is about right.

Have you seen better data or conflicting data?

If people can talk, their verbal IQs can probably be tested fairly well. Ask them questions, see how they respond. Easy peasy! They wouldn't even need to be able to read. There aren't many people on Earth who haven't been brought up talking and involved with their local communities and the associated linguistic gymnastics.
