Forrester is a company that provides market research and forecasting for a number of industries. Their reports are expensive and not available on the web unless you pay them a hefty subscription. I have access to hard copies at work. The quote was from a study they completed in July 1998, called Building Smart Devices the Cell Phone Way. It was a study done for manufacturers of digital gadgets that would need to access the web. It was meant to provide forecasts and trends of where the industry was headed in the near future. The salient points of the study were that: Operating systems for these devices should be neither seen nor heard. Connectivity was King. Look beyond Windows. Get together on missing standards. and Bundle web services. The document was relevant to: Corporate Technology, Internet Commerce, Computing, Networks, and Communications, New Media, On-line Financial Services, On-line Retail and the Future of Public Networks. I'm sorry I don't think I can legally type the whole thing out for public distribution, but I thought that quote might cheer us all on.
