"We are not in an election campaign so you shouldn't expect election policy to be presented."
I expect common sense and reality at all times, not just election time. Policy is changed to suit the situation, whereas I want to know how someone will conduct themselves on a regular basis, and Harper has disappointed.
"I still can't fathom people wanting to vote for a blatantly corrupt organisation,"
I already know your approximate age, similar to my own, but you have obviously forgotten the corruption in the Mulroney government......I have not.
I certainly haven't said I would vote Liberal. On the other hand, I have seen nothing that is a valid reason to vote for Harper. JMO, but he is an opportunist, obsessed with getting elected at all costs, and too impatient to wait for the results of the inquiry.
" If you don't like Conservatives for goodness sake vote NDP or Green."
You have no idea of what you speak, especially no idea of how many times I have voted for either party. At one time, I was a card carrying Conservative, the only party I have ever attended a meeting for. Just because I feel that Harper is a non starter, has absolutely no bearing on my thoughts toward Conservatives, other than the current crop has not done a decent job of picking an effective leader.
You'd probably be surprised at my voting record, but this is a "Political Free for All" is it not? A place where we can discuss the issues?
BTW, in one of your previous posts you mentioned that we shouldn't knock Harper until after he was in office for four years. Absolutely silly statement Stephen, imo of course, but I think we have covered it before.
"He could be smarter in his political skills but he certainly is smart."
I can't dispute that Stephen, I'm sure he has to be relatively intelligent to get this far, but there are a lot of smart people in Canada. That in itself does not automatically entice me to want them running the country.
You seem so wrapped up with Harper, and I think you have said that you know him, I have to ask..... are you affiliated with his campaign? No problem with me if you are, just curious.
If you are, take this back to him, slow down and be a little less obvious in his quest for power........but the biggest mistake he made with this voter was sucking up to Bush. Other warts aside, that in itself has turned me against him forever, and I doubt if I am the only one.
We are an independent nation and should behave accordingly. We don't do that nearly well enough to suit me, but I think he would make it worse. I suspect he was just trolling for votes, but I can't/won't take the chance.
I have no idea who I will vote for, but I hope there is more time to make the decision. Change is good, sometimes necessary, but I have seen few reasons on this thread that are not encased with partisan venom.
I suspect I will be holding my nose, whoever I vote for.
Diversity of opinion is what makes Canada what it is....thank you for yours.
