Unfortunately, last year, Q! suddenly noticed it and somehow or other managed to get in first, despite Ericsson's amazing leadership in CDMA. Ericsson, scrambling to catch up on this thing they invented, bought Q! infrastructure manufacturing and signed up to pay royalties to Q!.
Nokia admits they didn't invent it, but did have the sense to sign up for a Q! CDMA licence back in 1990 [maybe it was 1991]. Unfortunately, they didn't have the ability to produce good ASICs nor the sense to buy from Q! so have missed out so far. They are hanging their hopes on 3G and the DS-CDMA VW40 'Naked King' approach to market admiration.
