I have been a life-long Republican (although I am leaning Independent this election), and I totally agree that Volcker is responsible for squelching inflation. Without his aggressive rate hikes, our economy would have ended up in a far worse state. Republicans worship Reagan far too much. He was a great President for that time but not a great President for ALL times. Republicans should also remember that Bush Sr. raised taxes and broke his promise to the American people. Lying isn't just a Democratic thing, and tax raising isn't either. Ali
