Hi IndependatValue -

Somewhat on topic -

There was some discussion that these "Cloud" REITs would eventually move to SSD technology too. One can make an argument that there are several benefits in this: less power consumption, lower heat, resulting in lower operation costs and better performance. For me, it's just about technology and that in a scaled operation like a server farm built for "cloud" services anything is possible.

Hybrid Memory Cube Specs Finalized; Superfast 3D Memory Moves One Step Closer

So what if something like the next generation memory cube technology was scaled up to provide tera bytes of storage to a network/server facility. In the case of an REIT, they could increase their capacity 100x per sq foot of lease space (or more), reduce electricity requirements, no need for refrigeration like w/ spinning drives and perhaps lower maintenance and operation costs to boot. Overall performance and through put to the network would be better too.

I would think that the current disk drive manufactures would eventually build systems that would meet these very large scale applications (ie "Big" data). Who knows, some of the next generation systems may be a hybrid design using the best of all technologies.

I do know there will be new designs due to new technologies and where scale is needed, SSD could/will be used in the ultimate solution.

Scale=>Efficiency=>lower costs=>greater value

For an REIT delivering Cloud services, it also means lower operating costs and higher FCF. That should/will eventually translate to higher property values and higher stock prices.
