Blame management for excessive confidence... but not dishonesty

I'm not calling them dishonest at this point, but I think it's OK to remain skeptical. If I were the only one who had misgivings, I would chalk it up to an amateur's lack of understanding of the issues. However, as noted in the important NYT article linked here the other day, analysts on the call voiced the very same concerns. E.g., Jack Ciesielski:

"If its value is zero, get rid of it. It's costing you to carry it. What are you waiting for?"

You also state:

My only criteria is this. If the company uses the components, it will be disingenuous if such use is not given as much visibility as the boost to gross margins it would represent.

I totally agree. I don't have a problem with them using these components as long as they are explicit in taking charges as per original prices paid for the components.
