The subject was whether it was somehow inconsistent with his politics of Christopher to not drink because he, personally, didn't want to support the alcohol industry. IMO it wasn't.

Sorry to dredge up old discussions, but the original discussion was over the consistency of two statements:

an industry which causes so much human misery.

and

as a libertarian I think people have the right to make their own choices
We were discussing whether the assumption that the industry causes the misery of alcoholism was consistent with the assumption that people have a right to make their own choices. Christopher's drinking habits, or lack thereof, were not meant to be part of it.

I was picking nits, actually; a boring habit, but it still seemed a better way to pass the time than joining the crap that was flying around the thread then.
