John: The NY Times & Yahoo link dont work. But I did like this part in the abcnews link.

EBay only allows sellers to auction expired stock certificates or certificates from defunct companies. It does not allow the sale of actively traded shares.

For its part, the Securities and Exchange Commission allows the sale of stock certificates as art, or for prices that are at least twice their actual value
