Lynn ... often times, LVADs are referred to as artificial hearts, so I suspect that is what they are talking about.
As far as I have been able to determine in the last 23 months(since I first got interested in Abiomed), there are only two "total artificial hearts" under development ... the AbioCor, and the heart that Penn State was developing which is now owned by Abiomed (but is at least a year or two away from clinical trials).
